Aunt Jeni's Home Made pet foods are formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the aafco dog food nutrient profile for all life stages. Transition your pet slowly, mixing old and new food over 7-10 days. The use of digestive enzymes and probiotics may be helpful. Feeding instructions: your pet is a unique individual. The exact amount of food required to maintain ideal body condition may need to be adjusted according to age, activity level and environment. Use the amounts listed below as a starting point: feed your adult pet 1/2 lb. (1 cup) of food per 25 lbs. of body weight, daily. For smaller pets give 2-3 oz. (4-6 tbsp.) of food per 5 lbs. of body weight, daily. For young, growing pets feed according to estimated adult body weight, divided into 2-3 meals daily. For pregnant pets offer 1-1/2-2x the normal adult amount, fed as smaller, more frequent meals. For lactating (nursing) pets offer 2-3x the normal adult amount, fed as smaller, more frequent meals. Safe handling guidelines: keep frozen until ready to use. Thaw in refrigerator or by submerging closed container in water. Product remains usable up to 1 year in freezer and fresh for 3-5 days once thawed. May safely be subdivided and refrozen with no loss of nutrients. Wash surfaces, utensils, and hands with hot, soapy water. Promptly refrigerate, refreeze or discard unused portions.
